Company
History and development

In 1925, Amleto Pieri started his business as a broker of green coffee on the Italian market. On December 4th, 1946, with his sons Umberto and Sergio, he was granted a wholesale license for colonial goods. Sergio Pieri, father of Paolo, Luigi, Marco, and Giovanni personally continued the coffee roasting business started by his father. With his in-depth knowledge of the espresso tradition, and as a connoisseur of quality in selecting each individual coffee source, his “Torrefazione Caffè Columbia” was dedicated exclusively to coffee professionals, and he became the market leader in Tuscany in just a few years.

Cellini was formally created in 1985 when Columbia merged with two other historic brands, themselves leaders in the coffee sector in Italy: Filicori, founded in Bologna in 1883, and Eureka, created in Genoa in 1933.
In 1992, thanks also to the joining of Mr. Lutz Quasdorf – a German partner with a thirty-year-experience in the field of the Original Italian Espresso coffee -  in the corporate ownership, Mr. Giovanni Pieri began the commercial launch of Cellini brand on the international markets, boosting its growth and development.

Today, the new production plant is a clear demonstration of the extent to which our company wants to continue growing, focusing on quality and technological innovation, but always with full respect for tradition.
